Graduate Teacher

As a new teacher you will be referred to as a graduate teacher for the first two years that you teach. You will commence on Level 2.1 (four-year-trained), progress to Level 2.2 after 12 months of satisfactory teaching service and are eligible for the Graduate Allowance of up to $1,600 during your first two years. This allowance assists you with the personal and professional costs involved in establishing yourself as a teacher.

After two years of satisfactory teaching service, you progress to Teacher level.

If you are a career changer, your work experience and previous qualifications may be taken into account when determining your starting salary. The Department considers each application to start above the graduate salary on a case-by-case basis.

2.1 $60,545* $63,118*
