School psychologists

Our students come from a range of diverse backgrounds some of which can lead to particular challenges for a few students. This can impact on their behaviour and the students’ ability to become successful learners. School psychologists play an essential role in helping these students, with the assistance of their teachers and families, to succeed at school and enjoy a happy and positive future.

To work as a school psychologist you must be registered or provisionally registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. You also need to have a recognised teaching qualification.

How to apply to be a psychologist in WA public schools

Appointments to the School Psychology Service will be made from a pool of applicants who are successful in a selection process. Applicants will be required to address selection criteria and attend an interview.

Applications to join the School Psychology Service are listed on the State Government Job Board – JobsWA jobs.det.wa.edu.au.
