Teachers who have not taught in an Australian school in the past ten years

If you are a teacher with previous experience but have not taught in an Australian school in the past 10 years, you will be invited to participate in our Entry and Orientation Program.

The Entry and Orientation Program is two days of professional learning (PL) and support where experienced presenters will guide you through a range of topics including:

  • an introduction to the Department and the benefits of teaching in the WA public school system
  • effective practice in classroom management, instructional strategies and skills
  • Western Australian curriculum and Department of Education resources
  • cultural orientation and strategies to support Aboriginal students.

The program is coordinated by the Institute for Professional Learning (the Institute) and is not mandatory.

To participate in this program you will need to be currently registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).

The program is recognised by TRBWA as relevant PL towards re-registration.
