Subsidies for glasses and lenses

As a public school teacher or administrator, you may be eligible to claim a subsidy for the cost of purchasing optical aids such as glasses or contact lenses. Eligible staff receive 50 per cent of their out-of-pocket expenses up to $110.

You are eligible if you:

  • are a permanent staff member or have worked for the Department for a least 12 months
  • use a computer for at least one hour a day continuously or more than 10 hours a week
  • have certification that optical aids are necessary for computer work.

To claim, just complete the optical aids subsidy form.
