Young Carers

Young Carers are defined as “Children and young people up to the age of 26 years who have caring and support responsibilities for a family member or friend who has a disability, is frail aged, or who has a chronic mental or physical disability”

For various reasons, young carers are often reluctant, or unable, to identify themselves. Some children feel that they shouldn't discuss their family's problems, others find it hard to ask for help, some are afraid of the ramifications of identifying themselves, and some may not even realise that they are young carers.
Student who are young carers can seek support through Carers WA.
