Alternatives to employment

Disability Services Commission (DSC) Post School Options (PSO) process provides information and support to eligible school leavers who are in their final year of school. If an application is successful then applicant will be allocated Alternatives to Employment (ATE) funding for the program. ATE programs are based on the needs and goals of individuals. ATE programs focus on social participation, increasing independence, life long learning and enhancing natural support networks. Please note that ATE programs do not replicate school hours.

The DSC Post School Options process is for applicants who meet the Disability Services Commission’s established eligibility criteria and are unable to

  • study fulltime
  • work for twenty hours
  • do a combination of the above

The Alternatives to Employment Expo is held annually by the PSO. The Expo provides an excellent opportunity for individuals and families to meet many service providers at one venue. ATE service providers will be available on the day to provide information on the services they offer and how to access these services in a timely manner. This year the Expo is on Friday 11 May, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm at The Astral Theatre, Burswood Entertainment Complex.
