Welcome to the Screening web site
The Department of Education Screening Unit currently conducts National Police History Checks (criminal history screening) through the federal CrimTrac Agency for the Education and Training sectors in Western Australia. This includes Public schools and people engaged in State Training Providers (formerly TAFE Colleges), Catholic & Independent schools, and also students in WA universities who are undertaking a practicum in public schools.
The Working with Children Check is a comprehensive criminal record check for certain people working with children in Western Australia.
The Working with Children Check is a separate requirement from the Department's Criminal Record Check. In some circumstances both checks may be required.
Information on the National Police History Checking (NPHC) process conducted through the Department’s Screening Unit for all employees.

Criminal history screening is the process of gathering relevant information in order to assist in making an informed decision about a person’s suitability for employment, or continued employment.
After checking this site, if you are not sure which of the above types of screening apply to you, or you require further information, please contact the Department’s Screening Unit during the hours of 8.30am - 4.30pm.
