Department of Education

Welcome to the Screening web site

The Department of Education Screening Unit currently conducts National Police History Checks (criminal history screening) through the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) for the Education and Training sectors in Western Australia. This includes Public schools and people engaged in TAFE Colleges, Catholic & Independent schools, and also students in WA universities who are undertaking a practicum in public schools.

The Working with Children Check is a comprehensive criminal record check for certain people working with children in Western Australia, and is processed through the Department for Child Protection and Family Support.

The Working with Children Check is a separate requirement from the Department's Criminal Record Check. In some circumstances both checks may be required.
