Education networks and regions: New ways of supporting
schools
The WA Government is focused on delivering a public school system that empowers school communities. To align with this move
towards local decision making and school autonomy, a new model of school support has been developed.
From 2011 up to 75 networks of schools in eight education regions will be created across Western Australia to replace the current 14 education districts.
Partnership Schools
Partnership Schools identifies schools under National Partnership Agreements for low socioeconomic status school communities
and in the areas of literacy and numeracy. These schools gain not only additional resources but also the opportunity
to operate with greater flexibility.
Better
attendance: Brighter futures
The future of young people depends very much on the simple act of going to school. It is necessary and it is the law. Schools
cannot do this alone. Schools, parents, businesses, support agencies and communities must work together – it is a shared
responsibility and mutual obligation. Better attendance: Brighter futures is a nine point plan to address the issue of poor
school attendance.
