Rising Leaders Program: Emerging Women in Leadership


About the program

Rising Leaders is designed to enhance women’s knowledge of, and confidence in, their leadership capabilities and provide learning opportunities that contribute to personal and professional growth.

The program will cover:

  • Everything DISC®
  • being an authentic leader
  • closing the confidence gap
  • building your personal brand
  • mindfully maintaining wellbeing
  • cultivating grit and grace.

The 2019 program is structured as three consecutive days, one later day and includes a one hour group coaching session.  Participants are also expected to complete an action learning project.

As part of the Department’s Women in Leadership strategy, the Department is offering 20 partially funded places in this program.

Learning intention

By the end of this program, it is expected participants will have:

  • improved confidence in their own leadership style and capability
  • increased leadership capability in current workplaces
  • access to coaching and mentoring.

  • Leading improvement, innovation and change
  • Leading the management of the school.


About the facilitator

Jenny Cole is an accredited coach and experienced facilitator. She focuses on achieving positive results for individuals and assisting clients to achieve personal and organisational goals. Before becoming a coach and facilitator, Jenny’s career was is teaching and school leadership. She has worked extensively with leaders, teachers and corporate teams across Australia, challenging people to be their best

Apply for a Department partially funded place

The cost per person is $500. This program has been significantly subsidised by the Department of Education.

Additional funding is available to some regional/remote participants to assist with travel costs.  Refer to the application package for further details.

Eligibility to apply for a Department partially funded place

Applications for a Department partially funded place in the 2019 program are open to applicants whose substantive position is:

  • level 3 classroom teachers

  • level  5 and 6 public servants

  • education officers level 2 and school psychologists.

Applicants must be willing to:

  • commit to all elements of the program
  • gain endorsement/sponsorship from their line manager
  • confirm support from their line manager for travel, time away from work and other activities/events that impact on the workplace.

Applications have now closed.

Selection process

A panel will select the successful applicants on the basis of merit, eligibility requirements and sponsor feedback, as required. All applicants will receive written notification of the panel’s decision.

*Day 4 also includes the Women in Leadership Alumni, 4.30pm – 6.30pm, at the Institute.

On the day

  • Programs start at 8.30am. (Institute doors open at 8.00am.)
  • Business dress is required.
  • Morning tea and lunch are provided.


Location

The Leadership Institute is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville. We co-locate with the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).

 

Parking

Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
