Peer Coaching: Positive Conversations About Teaching Practice

About the program

Peer Coaching: Positive Conversations About Teaching Practice provides an introduction to coaching and the GROWTH coaching model. This confidential process allows participants to reflect on current practice, share ideas, set professional goals, teach one another, build new skills and solve problems. Ideally, this program is aimed at collaborative pairs/teams of teachers, school leaders and principals using a collection of school-based data. However, this is not essential.

Program format and delivery options

Day 1: Online self directed module issued to participants for completion at any time prior to the face-to-face workshop (i.e. 3 x 30 minute sessions or as one 90 minute session.)

Day 2: Program module (see delivery options below):

  • Option 1: Face-to-Face at the Leadership Institute, 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville.
  • Option 2: WebEx online webinar for regional participants only. Regional participants can complete the face-to-face component of this program online using WebEx. All that is needed is a device with microphone, speakers and camera, such as a PC or iPad. It is mandatory when enrolling from a regional location two participants from each school register. This allows the participants to engage in the coaching activities throughout the day.

At the end of this program, it is intended participants will have:

  • used the GROWTH coaching model for enhancing teaching conversations
  • used coaching skills to support professional conversations, including questioning, clarifying and listening
