Mentoring: How to be a Mentor

About the program

In the current climate of school autonomy it is important staff are provided support and assistance to reach their full potential. Mentoring provides an avenue for staff to learn and develop both professionally and personally in a safe and supportive environment. 

Mentoring: How to be a Mentor is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of staff to enable them to approach their role with confidence, commitment and enthusiasm. Experienced staff are encouraged to complete the one day program to develop the necessary skills and knowledge required to mentor staff. 

Learning intentions

By the end of this program, participants will have had the opportunity to:

  • identify the purpose and benefits of mentoring
  • understand the qualities of effective mentors
  • apply a range of skills to develop the role of mentor in a school context.

Target audience

This program is for experienced teachers, school leaders and business leaders who want to develop their mentoring skills to work with others in a positive and supportive manner.

About the facilitators

The Institute’s leadership and teaching and learning teams will facilitate this program.
