About the program

This workshop provides an overview of the Department of Education's recruitment, selection and appointment processes and compliance requirements which ensure that schools are able to employ the human capital to meet current and future needs.

 

Learning intention    

By the end of this workshop participants will have increased knowledge of the Department's recruitment, selection and appointment processes and compliance as required in schools.

 

Success criteria 

As a result of this workshop participants will have an overview of:

  • recruitment in the Public Sector - legislative and policy framework and compliance
  • the five step staffing process for filling a vacancy
  • recruitment options available
  • tips for successful recruitment.


Who will benefit?

School staff who are responsible for recruitment processes and practices including, but not limited to, school leaders and managers corporate services.

 

About the facilitator

Recruitment - Opportunities, Possibilities and Accountability is presented by Liza Boland, Manager, School Staffing Support and Cindy Barnard A/Director, Staff Recruitment and Employment Services. This directorate facilitates the placement and deployment process for teaching staff and support staff in Western Australian public schools.

  • Afternoon programs start at 12.30pm. (Afternoon tea is provided.)
  • Tea and coffee are available.
  • Business dress is required.

Location

The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).

 

Parking

Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
