Records Management in Schools


About the program

This half-day workshop will detail principles of records management in schools and will be delivered through presentations and activities delivered by the Department’s experienced recordkeeping consultants.

 

Learning intention

Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • how to train staff
  • the reasons for keeping records
  • what needs to be captured and what does not
  • how best to manage hardcopy and electronic records
  • how to process records once they have reached the end of their lifecycle.

 

Success criteria

Staff who attend the workshop should leave with a full understanding of how to manage records in schools.  Attendees will be in a position to demonstrate leadership and provide guidance on best practice records management principles to school-based staff.

 

Who will benefit

School staff who are responsible for records management processes and practices including, but not limited to, school leaders, school support staff and managers corporate services.

 

About the facilitators

Records Management in Schools will be delivered by the Department's experienced recordkeeping consultants, from ICT Corporate InformationServices, through presentations and activities.

  • Programs start at 8.30am. Tea and coffee are available from 7.45am.
  • Morning tea is provided.
  • Business dress is required.

Location

The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).

 

Parking

Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
