Peer Coaching: Positive Conversations About Teaching Practice

About the program

Peer coaching is a learning conversation between two or more colleagues.  This confidential process allows participants to reflect on current practice, share ideas, set professional goals, teach one another, build new skills and solve problems. Peer Coaching: Positive Conversations About Teaching Practice provides an introduction to coaching and the GROWTH coaching model.

Learning intention

At the end of this program participants will have structures for improving classroom and school practice through professional conversations using the GROWTH coaching model.

Success criteria

As a result of this program participants will have:

  • used the GROWTH coaching model for enhancing teaching conversations
  • used coaching skills to support professional conversation including questioning, clarifying and listening
  • use skills in dealing with the challenges of working collaboratively
  • understand current research and practice in coaching.

Who will benefit?

This program is highly suitable for principals, school leaders and teachers who are open to working collaboratively with a school colleague to enhance their own practice. Ideally, this is aimed at collaborative school pairs/teams of teachers, school leaders and principals using a collection of school based data, however this is not essential.

Participant expectations

In this practical program, participants are expected to engage in peer coaching conversations.
