Leading Personalised Learning in the Primary Years

About the program

Leading Personalised Learning in the Primary Years provides an overview of leadership responsibility in inclusivity and personalised learning. It is based on the Department of Education definition of personalised learning:

'The rationale for personalised learning is to raise standards by focusing the teaching and learning program on the aptitudes and interests of students.’

The program is designed for newly appointed school leaders to raise awareness of the need for policy and programs for students in relation to areas such as EAL/D, SAER (including Gifted and Talented), Attendance, Gender and Sexual Orientation, Behaviour, Medical, Disability and Learning Difficulties.

Learning intention

By the end of this program, participants will have had the opportunity to:

  • acquire strategies to effectively lead the analysis and collation of whole school data to ensure effective planning for students at educational risk
  • gain an awareness of the relevant policies and procedural requirements
  • develop an understanding of disability legislation and the implications for schools.
  • articulate their leadership responsibility and role in leading inclusion/personalised learning
  • define their leadership role in whole school self-assessment processes related to inclusion.

On the day

  • Programs start at 8.30am. Tea and coffee are available from 7.45am.
  • Business dress is required.
  • Morning tea and lunch are provided.


The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).


Please note, the Institute does not have on-site parking:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F.
