Coaching Young People For Success


About the program

Coaching Young People For Success is a one day leader accreditation training program. The program incorporates a train the trainer model that is designed to assist schools easily introduce or enhance the quality of their existing personal learning, pathway, transition, career, VET, wellbeing, leadership and engagement and support programs plus have a powerful system to engage parents as coaches at the same time.

Coaching Young People For Success provides all participants with the skills, theory and “turn key” tools and resources they need to introduce up to 80 hours of potential and flexible life, career and school performance coaching curriculum across the school or to a targeted cohort in groups or one to one straight away.

Participation in this program, includes:

  • 12 month not-for-profit license to access Coaching Young People For Success members resource library and up to 80 hours of life, career and school performance coaching curriculum
  • a complete Coaching Young People For Success Leaders’ Manual
  • unlimited printing of the re-writable and printable life, career and school performance pathway plan worksheet PDF's for every young person you coach.

The program has been mapped against the Australian Blueprint of Career Development and the Australian National Curriculum Framework and is also an endorsed WACE program.

Learning intention

Participants will learn how to assist young people:

  • build student’s self-awareness and confidence by helping them understand their unique strengths, skills and interests.
  • identify and design a personal Life, career and school performance pathway plan that matches who they are and what they want to achieve from the inside out.
  • identify and strengthen the social and emotional skills they need to overcome obstacles and successfully implement their plans on an ongoing basis
  • actively engage their support networks and parents to assist them achieve their goals.

Aspiring, newly appointed and established heads of learning area, program coordinators, year coordinators, deputy/associate principals, teachers, school psychologists, AIEOs, education assistants, student support staff, VET coordinators, career education coordinators and student services managers will benefit from this program. 

 

Participant expectations

Leader Accreditation Training

Participants will be taken step by step through the program and learn how to deliver the first FOUR 'turn key' coaching modules that assist students design their own inspiring life, career and school performance pathway plan in both groups and one to one:

  • Module 1 - Career Coaching
  • Module 2 - Life Coaching
  • Module 3 - School Performance Coaching (Junior)
  • Module 4 - School Performance Coaching (Senior).

About the facilitator

Robyn Chellew is a clinical social worker and family therapist who worked within community health and private practice since 1985.

Robyn is an accredited emotional intelligence and career coach and qualified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) facilitator and as been a clinical supervisor and a lecturer in group work and counselling skills at the Melbourne University School of Social Work.

In 1999, she co-founded Life Business Consultancy, with Olga Varsos, and specialise in offering coaching training and resources for professionals working in the youth, health and educational sectors.

Together they published the first edition of the Coaching Young People For Success (CYPFS) Program and leaders accreditation training in 2005 and have now trained over 3 000 professionals across Australia, USA, Canada and the UK.

  • Programs start at 8.30am. Tea and coffee are available from 7.45am.

Location

The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).

 

Parking

Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
