Performance Management for Managers Corporate Services

About the program

This half-day workshop aims to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for line managers of school support staff to undertake all aspects of the performance management process and to competently implement appropriate responses to the more complex employee-related matters which may impact on performance.

Performance Management for Managers Corporate Services complements the two day program, offered by the Institute and delivered by Growth Coaching International, Introduction to Leadership Coaching. The program covers Performance Conversations and Managing the Hard Feedback using a Coaching Approach.  

This combination will equip leaders with the skills and confidence to conduct highly effective performance development conversations, provide in the moment challenging feedback in a timely manner and, on occasions when an employee is demonstrating poor performance, know how to effectively address concerns within the context of the policy and industrial provisions.

Target audience

This workshop is designed for managers corporate services and it is expected that participants have had experience in dealing with the usual day-to-day human resource situations and have a basic working knowledge of the Department’s performance management process. 

Success Criteria

Participants will learn strategies to help them to develop and improve their staff members’ performances and also enable them to address poor performance and other issues which are commonly linked to performance concerns. 

About the facilitator

Performance Management for Managers Corporate Services is presented by the Labour Relations Directorate. This directorate is responsible for ensuring that policies and practices are developed and consistenly applied to support producative labour relations, improved employment conditions and workplace flexibility within legislative and economic constraints.

On the day

  • Morning programs start at 9.00am. (Morning tea is provided.)
  • Afternoon programs start at 12.30pm. (Afternoon tea is provided.)
  • Tea and coffee are available.
  • Business dress is required.


The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with The Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).


Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
