Beginning Manager Corporate Services

About the program

The Beginning Manager Corporate Services program develops the skills, knowledge and attributes needed for the manager corporate services to perform effectively across the six functional corporate services areas. Participants will develop an understanding of:

  • the role of self-awareness in leading others
  • leadership styles and your role in leadership teams
  • aligning budgets to strategic plans
  • strategies to lead effective change
  • the legislative framework governing financial management.

Corporate services staff who are currently acting in the role, or will be doing so in the near future, are also welcome to register for this program.

During the workshops participants will use the PRINT® diagnostic tool to explore why people act as they do, leading to insights that support good leadership.

PRINT seeks to uncover a deeper level of understanding by exposing the root causes of behaviour, so positive behaviour can be reinforced and negative behaviour can be changed for the better. Participants will reflect on your own strengths as a leader and begin to create a leadership action plan using the Competency Framework for School Corporate Services Staff as a tool for career development. 

Learning intention                 

At the conclusion of the six day program you will have an increased capacity to work in a strategic and confident manner whilst developing skills and knowledge of the role and responsibilities of manager corporate services.  You will enhance your leadership and people management skills.                 


Success criteria

As a result of this program you will:

  • apply a range of leadership skills to make an impact on the business of education in your school
  • utilise networking opportunities
  • identify and develop the opportunity and value of networks and peer support.

About the facilitators

This program will be facilitated by Meagan Muntz, Consultant Leadership, from the Institute for Professional Learning together with co-facilitators who are experienced, current managers corporate services and consultants from various directorates from the Department of Education.

Meagan has eight years experience as a manager corporate services. Currently a consultant at the Institute, Meagan has been involved with the development and delivery of a number of Institute programs. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Education Business Leadership, Diploma of Management and a Certificate IV in Business.

Judy McGinn is the founder of coaching and training business Achieve Real Change. Judy focuses primarily on PRINT®, a psychometric tool which concentrates on the core and unconscious motivations that are responsible for behaviour.  

Judy enjoys the diversity of working with individuals in corporate, government, non-government and community sectors at middle, senior management and executive levels. 

Judy uses her key understandings in personal development, psychology and the basic human need for connectedness as a catalyst for behavioural change and personal and professional growth. Her qualificatons include a Master of Educational Studies (Guidance and Counselling), Bachelor of Education, Diploma Life & Business Coaching and Cert IV Training & Assessment.

This program is aligned to the Competency Framework for School Corporate Services Staff.

On the day

  • Programs start at 8.30am. Tea and coffee are available from 7.45am.
  • Business dress is required.
  • Morning tea and lunch are provided.
  • Wifi connection is available


The Institute for Professional Learning is located in Building B at 164-194 Oxford Street, Leederville WA. We co-locate with the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE).



Please note the Institute does not have on-site parking available:

  • The City of Vincent has a number of car parks throughout Leederville.
  • The closest long term paid parking is available on the south side of The Avenue Car Park on Leederville Parade.
  • Short term paid parking (two hour) is available in adjacent streets.
  • The City of Vincent offers a 'pay by phone' parking service.
  • The Institute is a two minute walk from Leederville train station.
  • Taxis service the site promptly.
  • Cycle racks are located outside Building F at the Institute.
