Leadership Institute ‹ Middle Leaders

Middle Leader's Professional Learning

Supports distributed leadership in schools with programs to build the capability of experienced teacher leaders (Senior Teacher, Level 3 Classroom Teacher, Program Coordinator, Curriculum Leader) and Heads of Learning Area (HOLA). Programs are designed to help participants understand their role in supporting their school executive and teaching teams.

Programs supporting middle leaders are designed to:

  • reflect on their dual role and effectiveness in leading their team and being a school leader
  • connect teachers on how plans for whole school improvement can be implemented in the classroom
  • lead initiatives and improvements with clear accountability measures
  • learn the skills and gain the confidence required for managing others with a coaching approach.

This program is for teachers emerging leaders, middle leaders, aspiring principals and newly appointed deputy principals aspiring to the role of school principal. It provides research-based evidence, professional readings and opportunities for participants to reflect on their current professional needs, and aligns to the Australian Professional Standard for Principals.

You will be able to benchmark your school to the McKinsey performance trajectory and develop a strategic plan for improvement and innovation. Dr Geoffrey E Mills, Emeritus Professor of Education, Southern Oregon University, will examine strengths-based leadership and leadership for team learning, leading from your personal why and mindsets and mind frames.
