A staff member may be required to appear as a witness in court to give evidence and/or supply documents. This might occur following a request from the Director General or as a result of a subpoena being served directly on the staff member.

The Department is committed to meeting its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and endeavours to maximise the availability of its documents to the public without the need for an application under the Act.
