Notebooks for Teachers Program (NFT)

These pages are designed to be the primary source of information for teachers on the Notebooks for Teachers Program. Program news, forms, Professional Development (PD) information etc will be published within these pages as it becomes available.
BACKGROUND
The Department’s Notebooks for Teachers Program invites eligible teachers to enrol on a voluntary basis and receive the use of a leased notebook computer, complete with software, introductory training, insurance and support for work and personal use for three years.
Participating teachers are required to contribute a portion of the cost of the notebooks via a fortnightly salary-sacrificed (before-tax) deduction from their pay. The Department subsidizes the remainder of this cost and the whole cost of ancillary services such as telephone support and insurance services, collections at end of lease and so on.
Other services available include extended warranty support and a basic training session after delivery, again at no extra cost.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
The Notebooks for Teachers Program is open to all full time and part time (0.1 PTF or more) teaching staff contracted to work for 12 months or more with the Department and who work directly with students. The program is also open to Principals and Deputy Principals working in schools, and School Psychologists.
Participants make a fortnightly contribution from their payroll towards the cost of providing the notebooks. From 2011 the contribution rates for new notebooks became $14.60 per fortnight (Dell) or $16.50 per fortnight (Apple). For future rollouts the rate may vary, depending on purchase costs. (Older rates still apply for re-assigned notebooks - see "Pre-Leased Notebooks Offer" below.)
ROLLOUT SCHEDULE
New notebooks are offered on a periodic basis, with a registration period followed by deliveries a few weeks later. Dell will be the supplier of PC notebooks from 2011 and Apple notebooks will also be offered.
