St. Emilies's Catholic Primary

Social sustainability is a strong focus area at St. Emilies. Linked to the Values in the Curriculum Framework, the Safe Schools Policy and the Schools’ Pastoral Care, the school uses the Nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit (below) to encourage students to practise positive social interaction:

  • love
  • peace
  • joy
  • kindness
  • patience
  • trustworthiness
  • self-control
  • goodness
  • gentleness

Students learn what each of these virtues means and how they can demonstrate them within the school community. Students can nominate each other for a Harmony Leaf representing one of these virtues. Classes display Harmony Trees so that the leaves can be seen by everyone who visits the classroom.

Curriculum Links: Values 2. Self acceptance and respect of self (2.1 - Individual uniqueness; 2.3 – Ethical behaviour and responsibility);
Values 3. Respect and concern for others and their rights (3.1 – Compassion and care; 3.3 – Respect)
