Philosophy and Ethos

In line with Chrysalis’ motto: “Learning together, growing together”, the school’s vision involves staff, parents and children with the mission statement: “Chrysalis Montessori is a child centred community that celebrates diversity, individual growth and a lifelong love of learning”.

The School Sustainability Vision Planning group identified eight aspects of sustainability: Health, Communication, Education, Governance, Environment, Culture, Spirit and Economics.

In developing a shared vision for the school, a large Sustainability at Chrysalis (SAC) poster with “petals” representing the above aspects was displayed in the school’s foyer. Students, parents, staff and other members of the school community could write ideas for their vision of sustainability in each petal. A creative 3-D SAC display is also in the school’s foyer.

“Sustainability action empowers our children and the wider community.” Elaine Lewis, Sustainability Coordinator 2006
