Blue Gum Montessori

Sustainability Action Planning

Blue Gum Montessori School (approximately 150 students from 3-12 years of age) in Bibra Lake has adopted a whole school approach to sustainability with emphasis on all classes and building a Sustainable Community.

In February 2007 the school developed its own Sustainability Policy.

The school has appointed a Sustainability Coordinator who is responsible for coordinating the different EfS initiatives being undertaken by various classes through out the school, and promoting broader ownership of EfS throughout the school community.

Any proposed projects are presented by the Coordinator at staff meetings and staff are invited to give feedback and ideas. With a very supportive Principal and enthusiastic staff this process has been working well.

While EfS has not been incorporated into the selection criteria for employment, new staff will be aware of this focus within the school.
