Sustainable Schools WA

Sustainable Schools WA is an initiative that supports a whole-school approach to education for sustainability, consistent with the Western Australian Curriculum and Australian Curriculum cross curriculum priority of sustainability.

Every school in Western Australia is engaged in some elements of sustainability/education for sustainability through, for example, utilities management, bushland and dune protection activities, reconciliation and other social and wellbeing programs. Whole-school planning framework for education for sustainability

Sustainable Schools WA provides a whole-school planning framework to help schools to:

  • identify opportunities for additional sustainability practices
  • support a culture of sustainability in the school community
  • develop sustainability action plans with student-centred, action-based teaching and learning programs, tailored to their local context
  • deliver a range of positive educational outcomes that also create environmental, social and economic benefits.

Sustainable Schools WA also gives schools opportunities to:

  • network and share examples of good practices in education for sustainability
  • access resources
  • partner with a range of organisations that support schools with different aspects of sustainability.
