Swan Valley Anglican Community School

Teaching and Learning

The garden has been used to support pre-primary children in their understanding of recycling by providing a way to recycle their food scraps. Year 2 and 3 students have taken part in cooking lessons using fresh vegetables from the garden. Year 3 children have used the garden during an integrated unit of work about plants. Year 7 and 8 students have a weekly horticulture lesson based in the garden.

It is envisaged that the garden will influence and link with most curriculum areas across the school and that all children will have timetabled lessons based in the garden at some point in the school year.
