Sustainability Action Planning

In 2001, a five-year school environmental management plan was developed in partnership with a variety of community agencies. A committee of parents, students, teachers, local businesses and government representatives was formed in 2002 to review the plan and develop a strategy for longer-term sustainability.

The school’s plans include:

  • A goal to establishing an environmental centre in the area, with local businesses and government groups already expressing interest and support
  • The completion of a Living Library walking trail which can be visited by other schools and community members
  • A nursery to propagate seedlings for planting
  • Provision of professional development and resources to teaching staff and support in incorporating environmental education into the school curriculum
