Glen Forrest Primary

Sustainability Action Planning

Glen Forrest Primary has an Environmental Coordinator position with a half day per week to devote to EfS; a Sustainability Committee is ‘in the pipeline’.

Two Professional Development sessions have been undertaken with the whole school staff:

  • Sustainable School’s Initiative WA
  • A locally-specific EfS session developed by the Environmental Coordinator

Sustainability and Environmental Education are written into our Science Learning Area Policy, and the school also has a Sustainability Policy which states that wherever possible the school will only support companies that “support sustainable practices in so far that they do no condone or support social injustice or environmentally harmful practices.”

The Principal is very supportive of all EfS projects being undertaken at the school and has also been integral in applying for grants.

The school has also been used as a base for Department of Environment and Conservation’s Waste Wise Schools Program PDs so the work undertaken at Glen Forrest can be showcased to other schools.
