Moerlina School

Sustainability Action Planning

Moerlina is governed by a school council consisting of parents and staff. All parents are encouraged to participate by contributing their time, skills and knowledge in a range of activities within the school.

Sustainability practices at the school are integrated into the school curriculum and run by project-based action teams where necessary. Most projects are overseen collaboratively, with staff, students and parents all involved in leadership roles.

Moerlina’s Student Council is involved in Education for Sustainability (EfS) at the school. Led by two parents, approximately ten students from Years 3-7 contribute to school decisions regarding excursions, budgeting and fundraising. The student councillors also attend community excursions where they learn new skills, which they then share in peer education activities such as school tabloid days.

Over the coming years, Moerlina plans to expand their involvement in a range of EfS activities and consolidate their vision, policies and plans for a sustainable school.
