Primary Support ‹ Numeracy

Professional support for numeracy

The numeracy team provides advice and support to schools and networks in relation to learning and teaching pedagogy and the Western Australian Curriculum.

Professional support for Numeracy Leaders, Teacher Development Schools, networks and schools as well as consulting with the Expert Review Group includes:

  • focused professional learning for school-based curriculum leaders to build their capacity to provide ongoing professional learning and support within schools and networks to improve children's development and learning in Mathematics
  • consultation with regional education offices and network principals to: establish effective ways of working to build numeracy practices in schools; advise and support implementation of Western Australian Government and Commonwealth Government initiatives; consultation and liaison with stakeholder groups and professional associations
  • numeracy consultancy to develop whole school planning, identify and implement practices and pedagogy relevant to the implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum
  • resource development based on research and data analysis to inform contemporary numeracy practice; reviewing, revising and redeveloping existing online numeracy materials and producing new practical classroom resources to complement the implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum Mathematics.
