Early Childhood Branch

The Department of Education is committed to excellence and equity in education for every child who attends a public school in Western Australia. The early years of a child’s life are critically important to their future educational success.
We want every young child to have the best start to school.

To help public schools to meet this commitment, Statewide Services Early Childhood Branch:
• provides policy advice about high quality teaching and leadership in the early years of schooling;
• fosters the establishment and maintenance of open, collaborative partnerships with other agencies and organisations that contribute to children’s development and learning;
• oversees the implementation of the National Early Childhood education agenda in Western Australian schools;
• supports the collection and use of quality data relating to children’s development and learning; and
• facilitates infrastructure solutions (relating to buildings, workforce and regulation) so schools can focus on program quality and children’s outcomes.
