The Aboriginal Language Speaking Students (ALSS) program recognises Aboriginal students’ Home Language as an important resource in their learning of Standard Australian English. The ALSS program is designed to facilitate the entry of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) Aboriginal students into education and aims to improve students’ literacy across the curriculum through explicit teaching of English language using EAL/D pedagogy.
