Teachers

This section is designed to provide information that will assist teachers to work more effectively with AIEOs. It includes information about how teachers can support AIEOs in their role to bring about the best outcomes for Aboriginal students.

The responsibility for improving educational outcomes must be a shared one – between all school staff, families and the students themselves. Partnerships and positive relationships are vital. The relationship between the teacher and the AIEO plays an important part in the success of many Aboriginal students at school.

A teacher summed up how the relationship between the teacher and the AIEO works best:

Two way partnerships, two way respect, two way teaching, two way planning, two way education.
